What Is CrossFit?

1. CrossFit is…
A community based, strength and conditioning program that can be scaled according to the needs, strengths and weaknesses of each athlete. Additionally, select elements of each workout can be customized to suit the capabilities, fitness level or fitness goals of each athlete. Every day is a different work out that includes high intensity, constantly varied functional movements. Anyone can do CrossFit.

2. CrossFit works…
Through personal training in small group classes with hands-on instruction, with the support of a community of like-minded and motivated athletes. Group workouts enable individuals to achieve significantly more than they’d otherwise do if training on their own. CrossFit programming accommodates the need for effective workouts that make good use of the members time, most workouts are short, rarely exceeding 30 minutes, not including warm up and mobility work.

3. CrossFit is different from other gyms/health clubs because…
In other gyms and health clubs the typical workout consists of isolation movements and extended aerobic sessions, while CrossFit works exclusively with compound movements and shorter high intensity cardiovascular sessions. Olympic lifts and gymnastic exercises use the same muscles and motor skills that mirror those used in everyday life. These movements and lifts require specific instruction to performed safely and effectively, and CrossFit coaches are able to provide that instruction to each member. CrossFit prioritizes the development and mastery of these skills for all its athletes, regardless of ability level and believes in the capability to both successfully educate, and achieve desired results for each individual willing to commit to trying.

4. CrossFit can be right for you if…
You are looking to get into shape but don’t want to spend hours at a gym or if you are no longer seeing results with your current exercise regimen or want to get faster, and or stronger in your sport.

CrossFit is for everyone, regardless of age, current fitness level or athletic ability. CrossFit workouts are scaled to the ability of each athlete, because of this you can succeed regardless of your experience. 5. A WOD (Workout of the Day) is…
The training program for the day that is performed in a group setting, at a predetermined time.

Each group training class offered on a particular day conducts the same workout of the day (WOD). Group training classes are infinitely scalable according to the needs, strengths and weaknesses of each athlete.
